Christina Da’Prato-Shepard is a British artist and designer based in London. She graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2021 with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art. Her practice centres around textile crafts such as knitting, weaving, and crochet. Each piece is made by hand, without mechanical aid to emphasise the traditionally slow, tactile nature of these processes. Christina’s work takes many forms, such as decorative wall-hangings, clothing, and accessories.
“I regularly find myself obsessed with certain colour combinations and patterns. Creating is a means of surrounding myself with these arrangements through the process of making. The repetitive rhythm of practices such as knitting, become an almost compulsive act, fueling the obsession while also being an outlet. Whatever the outcome might be, the work is made to be lived with. Inhabiting your space and clothing your body, like a poster on your wall, or a t-shirt of your favourite band—a token of obsession.”
